Herbert Media is a resource of hires, training, workshops, commissioned productions and advice that caters for the beginner through to the specialist.

Recording Studio

Herbert Media, through its previous incarnation of The Depot Studios, is home to Coventry's longest running sound engineering course delivered in a modern professional multi-track digital recording studio. Graduates have progressed on to find employment in teaching, theatre, film production and within the music industry working with artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and The Enemy.

Our studio is excellently equipped and with hire rates that are among the most competitively priced within the region. In addition those who have graduated from our Sound technology and Recording Course can further develop their skills through external dry hires at weekends and through the night at a vastly subsidised rate.

Film and TV production

We know that there are different levels of knowledge within the industry regarding Standard and High Definition editing facilities. Our skilled and creative team's understanding of the latest technology means that we can offer a tailored cost effective approach to your specific needs. In addition, as we have our own series on a national TV channel, we understand exactly what is needed to achieve broadcast standard work.

• Hireable professional broadcast equipped edit suites.
• Hireable equipment; Full range of cameras including Mini DVCam, DVCPro 50 and up to DVCPro 100 HD camera format, with an extensive range of support equipment ranging from tripods to dolly and mini jibs. Microphone and lighting kits are also available as well as a Nikon D100 digital still camera.
• HD and standard def production resources.
• Short courses and one to one tuition in filming, production, editing, lighting and sound.
• Free video production advice surgeries.
• Production office for the Community Channel's Sent To Coventry TV series.

Our staff can provide both creative and technical advice for your rental needs, including details of equipment hire costs, availability and advise on equipment capability. All equipment can be hired separately or as part of a production package.

New Media

In addition to providing short, competitively priced ICT courses for the public we also run bespoke courses for organisations such as City College Coventry, Connexions and the Renaissance West Midlands Skills Development Programme for museums and art galleries.

• Modern ICT suite for hire to external organisations; four Macs and four PCs running Adobe software.
• Short courses in graphics, animation, web design and photo editing.
• Digital camera, A3 scanner and Xerox colour printer for hire.

Our smartly equipped, centrally located new media suite is also available to hire out to external training organisations. Clients include Frontline AV and Arts and Media Training.

Training Room

Situated next to the University and the Cathedral our attractive city centre meeting space is available to hire for meetings, presentations, talks and delivering training courses. Clients include Coventry City Council, Coventry University, Warwick University and Creative Partnerships.
