Paul joined the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in November 2003 as Senior ICT Officer (Collections). In this role he was responsible for managing and administering our Collections Management database system, managing a small team tackling the documentation backlog of our museum collections and working on various other ICT projects including working with our Media team to revamp the website, putting information about our collections online.
Since April 2009 Paul's role has changed to manage an exciting new project, Herbert 2.0, funded through Renaissance in the Regions. This project has three major elements – implementing a programme of staff training and development in the use of new and creative media, developing new content using these skills both for our galleries and online; and finally working with partners to pilot the use of smart building technology in the museum to offer our users a personalised, persistent museum experience both in the gallery and online.
In addition he is Employee Trustee on the Trust Board.
Before joining the Herbert, Paul completed a MA in Museum Studies at the University of Leicester in 2000 and then worked for three years at the Waterways Trust Boat Museum in Ellesmere Port but has now managed to forget almost everything he learned about canal history during his time there.
