Spitting Image was a very popular television programme in the 1980s. Well known people in public life were re-created as puppets in this comedy sketch show which poked fun at the celebrities of the day. Many of the targets were politicians, with the puppet of prime minister Margaret Thatcher being one of the show's most famous creations.
These are toys for dogs, based on Spitting Image puppets. The characters are Margaret Thatcher; leader of the Labour Party Neil Kinnock; and David Owen, leader of the Social Democratic Party (with Liberal Party leader David Owen in his pocket!).
