Knickers 

I chose this item as I thought it was quite light hearted. The museum had appealed for the public to bring in underwear and this was one of the results.

A gentleman who called himself Jack the Lad brought in some of his ex's underwear and he even wrote a poem. Why anyone should go to these lengths baffled me but also amused me.

Knickers

As curators we are always looking to keep the collection up to date and relevant to the city of Coventry. Even so this donation is one of the most unusual ever to have come into the museum. The anonymous donor's poem says it all:

In the Telegraph you did say

You hadn't any knickers to display.

From amorous exploits long ago,

Perhaps you'd put these on show.

Now you're helped out of a mess,

MADAM museum won't go knickerless.
