Mary Quant started out selling clothes by other designers but soon began to design and make her own clothing. Her inexpensive, slightly off beat style aimed at the youth market became a great success. She popularised mini skirts, coloured tights, fitted jumpers and hipster belts. This coat is part of her PVC 'wet' collection and was made in 1965.
You can see this coat in the History Galleries with a display of other fashions from the 1960s to today.
