From Here to There explores themes of journeys, transitions and transformations through the work of a wide range of acclaimed artists including Tracey Emin, Julian Opie and Gilbert & George.

The works have been selected by the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum from the Arts Council Collection, the largest loan collection of modern and contemporary British art in the world.

The works featured in this exhibition portray everyday objects and occurrences, but they invite the viewer to experience the world from a different perspective. From Here to There includes paintings, photographs, films, textiles and installations dating from the 1970s to the present day.

From Here to There will also display work specially produced in response to some of the pieces in the exhibition by a group of young people and an art group from Peace House in Coventry.

The show includes works by Zarina Bhimji, Sophie Calle, Tracey Emin, Leo Fitzmaurice, Hamish Fulton, Anya Gallaccio, Gilbert & George, Mona Hatoum, Balraj Khanna, Richard Long, Rachel Lowe, Mariele Neudecker, Julian Opie, Cornelia Parker, Simon Patterson, Kathy Prendergast, Marc Quinn, Donald Rodney, Yinka Shonibare, David Tremlett and Mark Wallinger.

This exhibition complements Destination: Works from the University Art Collection at the Mead Gallery, University of Warwick from 1 – 29 May.
