Herbert Media are a resource of hires, training, workshops, commissioned productions and advice that caters for the beginner through to the specialist. Over the past 19 years we have built up an impressive portfolio of clients and partnerships which include Scholastic UK, City College Coventry, Connexions and Outreach.
The Herbert Media team work with the local community to create unique projects in collaboration with other organisations, which have included the Coventry Market 50th Anniversary musical (2008), Rap Academy (2008), and Journey to the West: A Chinese Community Film (2009). Many of the projects work to provide young people currently not in education, employment or training, people with learning disabilities, or members from the local community a chance to gain qualifications and real life experiences working creatively with audiovisual media. Alongside working with the community, we provide in-house training and bespoke courses in audio and visual media for the public, local schools, museums and galleries, as well as offering facilities for hire for external training providers. Herbert Media is unique because course completion leads to the ability to use the Media services for personal use, with the help of our specialist and qualified engineers. Graduates have progressed on to find employment in teaching, theatre, film production and within the music industry working with artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and The Enemy. More information about training courses can be found in the Training section of this website.
Herbert Media also play a key role within the Herbert Museum by creating audio-visual sequences using archive film footage from around Coventry for use in exhibitions and permanent displays. Many of the partnership projects, such as Journey to the West: A Chinese Community Film, are used within the exhibition spaces as a community response. The addition of interactive media within the Herbert Museum brings the history, art and natural history of Coventry alive and allows greater interaction between the exhibition and the public than ever before.
