Using multiple projections, music and sound, Dancing Digits focuses on the interplay between video, popular music and dance. Inspired by the role of music videos in the MTV generation, Paul Masters has created an installation that combines theatricality and entertainment with a mixed compilation of original tracks ranging from disco to classical and boogie woogie.
Dancing Digits is an imaginary night-time world of entertainment, a shadowed world, where choreographed hands perform and respond to a manipulated soundtrack.
Herbert Media is committed to supporting artists in developing their creative practice. Dancing Digits was produced by Paul Masters as part of an artist's training project based at Herbert Media. Paul was given technical support and training in audio and video skills and in return produced some research on how galleries and media facilities can meet the needs of media artists.
