Services provided from the History Centre will develop over time, but should include the following in the initial period :

• Photocopying facilities from paper and microfiche/film, subject to copyright restrictions.
• Prints from images in the photographic collection, subject to copyright restrictions and reproduction fees where appropriate.
• Written enquiry service for users who cannot visit the History Centre in person.  A fee will be chargeable for any research carried out.
• Group visits by prior arrangement.
• Courses in local and family history.
• Support and provision of material for exhibitions and educational work in The Herbert.
• Sale of local and family history publications, especially those produced by local groups, and vouchers for family history websites.
