1. Is there a family trail /quiz that leads through the whole museum?
A family guide can be picked up throughout the museum including the herbot stands( A life size version of herbot! ). This guide shows you around the museum, highlighting things for families to do as they look around. It also includes practical information such as where the cafe is, toilets, lifts etc.
Often, if our temporary exhibtions are aimed at families we will also develop trails or gallery resources so that families can explore the exhibitions further.
Look out for the Herberts 50th Anniversary Trail coming soon. Available from front desk. FREE
2. Can I leave my children at drop in holiday session and look around the galleries?
Unless otherwise stated, with our holiday activities and other workshops and events, we ask adults to stay and enjoy the activity with their children.
3. Can we leave our buggy and coats while we look around the galleries?
We are not able to offer a cloak room service but we do have lockers. Keys are available from reception.
We are also pleased to know offer a buggy park area, located outside our Peace and Reconcilliation gallery. Ask a member of our staff to point you in the right direction (buggies are left at owners own risk).
4. Do we have to pay?
Currently we are able to offer our family workshops for free. So we can continue to do so, we welcome contributions in the donation boxes located around the museum and outside the activity room.
5. Do I have to book for family workshops?
We aim to make most of our holiday activities drop in so there is no need to book. This helps to make the sessions accessible to all. As activities can get very busy you may be asked to wait at busy times. However, certain workshops running in addition to holiday activites during the holidays or throughout the year, may require booking or work on a ticket system. This would always be stated in the event or workshop description.
