A Thing About Machines 2009
Last year's festival was inspired by Tangerine Dream's 1976 concert in Coventry Cathedral. The festival explored the relationship art can have with its surroundings. Transformation of a space, transportation from a place, response to surroundings, interaction and reaction.

A Thing About Machines is Coventry's first and best OTHER Art Festival dedicated to local hero Delia Derbyshire exploring art and music that uses, reinterprets, reviews or renews technology invented in the past 100 years..

Kinopixel
Kinopixel was a screen-based installation curated for the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum by Darryl Georgiou.  It makes links between experimental film avant-gardes and new media art.

I am an Instrument
Inspired by Sir Alfred original vision and the architectural plans for the original Gallery I am an Insturment is an installation on the staircase that allows visitors to play with and explore the full height of the building. The music contains sounds recorded around the Gallery and elements of Lady Herbert’s speech at the opening of the Gallery in 1960.

Ghosts
Ghosts, created by Squidsoup, was a dynamic digital sculpture that explored ideas of communication, the longevity of information and leaving one's mark on another's experience.

Samantha Moore
Self-taught animator Samantha Moore, has been creating quirky animated documentaries for over eleven years. Her painterly digital animations explore real life and were described by Time Out as “visually arresting and beautifully effective”.

Ulla Winkler
Creator of stimulating products that make use of digital and electronic technologies, Ulla Winkler believes in active and playful participation.

Kate Pemberton SMS
The work makes a comparison between two creative processes: cross-stitch design and creation, and pixel design on a computer. It comments on the sentiment, social statement and gender associations of the two.

Using multiple projections, music and sound, Dancing Digits focused on the interplay between video, popular music and dance.
