The resources were mainly designed for people following the Skills for Life Adult Literacy and ESOL curriculum, but can be equally effective for adults involved in any kind of informal learning or group activity.

The displays at the Herbert offer a wealth of exhibits, information and activities exploring history, art and the natural world. They can be used as a starting point for a range of curriculum-based activities for adult learners. A visit to the Herbert is a stimulating complement to classroom-based learning. It can provide content for several lessons and engage learners in many different ways. The visit can also boost learners' confidence in accessing local cultural facilities, and encourage them to seek out self-directed learning opportunities for themselves and their families.

These online resources are complemented by materials designed for use at the Herbert. They have been developed by the Herbert working in partnership with experienced Adult Literacy and ESOL tutors from Coventry City Council's Adult Education Service.
