The Second World War

Bomb damage to a house in Coventry
Bomb damage to a house in Coventry

These resources examine the Second World War and its importance in Coventry's history.

The Second World War has had a dramatic impact on the appearance of Coventry's city centre and on the local sense of identity. These resources use the Herbert's History and Peace and Reconciliation galleries to explore the subject of life in wartime and issues around conflict today. They include a variety of activities, ranging from listening comprehensions based on first-hand accounts of the Coventry Blitz to an exploration of the media's use of emotive language.
