Suitable for KS2, KS3 and KS4

Timing: 1 hour

Pupils need to be divided into groups of 5 or 6

Cost: £75 per session (including travel costs)

Investigate Coventry during WW2 using archive material from the Herbert. Pupils will work in groups for a fact finding task to discover and learn about what happened in Coventry during the Second World War, looking at information about the Blitz and the lives of Coventry citizens from that time. The documents include aerial images, maps, photographs, personal letters and more. These documents provide a fascinating insight into life in Coventry during the war. Pupils will discuss what they have discovered with the class at the end of the session.

Learning Outcomes:

  • An increase in historical awareness and improved enquiry skills
  • An improved understanding of how people lived in other times & how those times were different to today
  • A better understanding of the use of historical objects and a range of evidence
