Suitable for key Stage 1 (Homes from the Past) and KS2 (Victorians)
Timing: 1 hour
Cost: £75 per session (including travel costs)
Bring Victorian domestic life into your classroom with our costumed interpreter, Molly the maid.
Pupils will be encouraged to ask Molly questions about life during Victorian times. We recommend you prepare questions with your class before the Outreach Learning Session takes place.
Additionally, pupils will get a hands-on experience by beating carpets, trying out a Victorian Vacuum cleaner, feeling the weight of a Victorian flat iron, using a washboard and dressing up using our costume collection.
Learning Outcomes:
An increase in historical awareness and improved enquiry skills
An improved understanding of how people lived in other times and how those times were different to today
An understanding of the hierarchy of Victorian domestic servants
Opportunities to speak independently when asking questions
