Victorian Outdoor Toys and Games

HISTORY - Learn about and experience what life was like for a Victorian child

Suitable for: KS1 (Toys from the past) and KS2 (Victorians)
This session is adaptable to suit your age group and classroom topic.
Timing: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Cost: £75 per session (including travel costs and VAT)

During this highly active outreach session your class will be given an introduction to the subject of Victorian outdoor toys and games, Victorian childhood and the difference between rich and poor families. They will also handle real Victorian objects from the Herbert's collections.

They will then be split into 6 groups to play with different Victorian replica toys, including quoits, skittles, hoop and stick and more. Costume is provided for the whole class to give pupils a first hand experience of what life was like for Victorian children.

At the end of the activities the whole class will come together to play a Victorian group game.

This session requires the use of a school hall or playground to give pupils room to take part in the different activities.
