ART - Discover all about Landscapes and Coventry's Cityscpaes with this creative and practical art session

Timing: 1 hr 30 mins
Suitable for: ALL KEY STAGES
Cost: £70 per session (£60 for Coventry local authority schools)

The session will start with a focus on the traditional style of landscape paintings in our Old Masters gallery and then move on to explore our more contemporary landscape paintings with particular study of a Lowry cityscape. Students will be encouraged to form opinions, compare and contrast paintings and consider the ideas, methods and approaches of artists who have responded to landscapes in different ways.

Your pupils will then have the opportunity to consolidate their learning and develop their art skills in a practical workshop that uses the surrounding environment of Coventry as the inspiration. The workshops will develop ideas around perspective, horizon line, foreground & background and artists viewpoint.

Choose from 2 creative workshops:

  • Contemporary monoprinting
  • 2D relief cityscapes

Learning Outcomes:

  • To understand the genre of landscape and how artists styles have changed throughout art history.
  • To be inspired to look, question and think about artworks to inform and develop pupils own ideas and critical skills.
  • To use the art collection & the city of Coventry as a stimulus for students to communicate their own thoughts and feelings through creative activity.
