Using the bomb scoop

HISTORY - Find out about life in Coventry on the home front.


Suitable for KS2

Timing: 1 hr 30 mins; including a 45 minute facilitated session and 45 minute independent visit to the galleries

Cost: £70 per session 
         £60 for Coventry local authority schools

This session allows pupils to discover the impact of the war on daily life using original costume and a wide range of stimulating Second World War objects. We explore a wartime childhood including evacuation, the Blitz, air raid precautions, civil defence and the impact of rationing.

Learning outcomes

Through attending this session your children will build on the following skills:

  • Improved speaking and listening skills through group discussion and interaction
  • A better understanding of chronology & improved knowledge and understanding of events, people and changes in the past
  • Improved knowledge and understanding of relevant materials
