The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum regrets that the sculpture 'The Enfolding' by artist Jean Parker located outside of our venue was seriously vandalised on Monday evening. 

As part of a wider initiative, the Herbert will be working with West Midlands Police in Coventry and CCTV footage of the incident has been passed onto them to further their investigations. 

The damage follows a spate of vandalism affecting the exterior of the building conducted out of hours by a small minority of trouble makers. 

Ludo Keston, Chief Executive for Coventry Heritage and Arts Trust who manage the Herbert commented 'It's a shame that a small number of people are so intent on damaging our building. The costs for the damage caused is starting to take its toll. As a Trust we work to bring history and the arts to life for the people of Coventry. Every £1 spent on repairing damage caused by vandals is money we'd rather spend delivering our programme of work to the communities of the City." 

The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum would also like to thank the many people who have already come forward with messages of shock, outrage, support and information relating to the crime.
