We need your help to win the £100,000 Art Fund Prize 2010!

The final stages of the competition are underway and for the first time the public's views are being taken into account by the judges when making the final decision.  In an effort to support the Herbert's campaign we are asking that visitors to the museum submit a short testimonial about their visit and why they love the Herbert. 

The Lord Mayor of the City of Coventry, Councillor Brian Kelsey said "The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum is a wonderful cultural venue in the heart of our city.  It's important to have such a renowned venue that builds Coventry's reputation on a national stage.  

"I would urge people to show their support for the Herbert in the Art Fund Prize bid as the money won would go back into the Herbert securing its legacy for future generations". 

People can email their support to jamie.perry@theherbet.org or post it on Twitter using the #LoveHerbert hash tag.  These will then be posted on the Herbert's website, and the soon to launch www.welovetheherbert.co.uk as well as used to show why the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum deserves to win the award.

For those who want to do more than just vote, on the right of the page are some downloadable posters that you can print out and put in the living room window, pass on to a neighbour or give to a friend.  Every vote counts so give out as many as you can and remember to cast your own vote too at www.artfundprize.org.uk.

We've also created a vote collecting form.  Fill in with your friends' email addresses (with their permission), send them in to the Herbert and we'll upload those votes.

The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry is one of many amazing museums and cultural attractions across Coventry & Warwickshire that bring history and the arts alive to people of the region. By supporting us, you will help bring more attention to the wide ranging opportunities to engage with culture that the region offers.

Jamie Perry, Head of Communications at the Herbert Art Gallery said "If we won the £100,000 prize money it would go straight back into the gallery and its collections.  It would mean that we'd be able to keep giving Coventry the best possible museum for their city.  That's why we need help from visitors and friends to spread our message to get voting".

The Herbert is up against three other venues across the UK and the winner, crowned on 30^th June, will receive £100,000 to invest in its museum and services.
