For those of us who’ve not had the chance to meet you yet, can you give a brief outline of your life and career to date?
I was born in Harpenden but moved to Switzerland and then later Australia, returning to this country when I was 9. I went to a large comprehensive school in Surrey and then spent a gap year working first as an au-pair and then a tour guide for Courvoiser Cognac in France before going to the University of St Andrews to study Medieval History. As a student I held down temporary jobs working as a postman, a NHS hospital cleaner, a cook, a nanny, a waitress and a tattie roguer in the scottish seed potato fields.
Since leaving university I have worked at the Royal Academy of Arts, a clean-fuel research company and then most recently Milton Keynes Gallery which is a publicly funded contemporary art gallery. During this period, I also got married and had 4 children.
What makes you happy?
Walking in the Brecon Beacons and standing on a high hill being buffeted by the wind and the rain and then the sun comes out.
What do you feel is your greatest achievement?
My 4 children obviously.
Who do you most admire?
Camila Batmanghelidjh for her establishment and continuous support of Kids Company which provides practical, emotional and educational support to 14000 of London's most vulnerable children and young people. She even mortgaged her own house when the charity needed money.
Tell us about your guilty pleasures?
A bar (or two) of chocolate with hazelnuts and not sharing it.
What was the last album you listened to?
The albums I listen to most of the time are on my iPod; Feather on the Breath of God - Hildegard of Bingen, Afro Celt Soundsystem, Jacques Brel, Mara - Runrig, Gregorian Chant and Come Away with Me - Norah Jones.
