The Lunt Fort offers a unique insight into military life in Roman Britain. Parts of the fort were reconstructed about 40 years ago, including the gyrus - a cavalry training ring. Our young visitors use this to re-enact Roman battle drills and learn how the Roman Army trained horses for military action. We must urgently refurbish the floor of the gyrus to make it safer to use; unless action is taken the gyrus will have to be closed to the public.
Please help us to keep the gyrus open.
