A Night at the Museum

The Herbert at Night
The Herbert at Night

Don’t miss the chance to experience the magic of the Herbert out of hours.

An evening of activities awaits you and your family at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum.

A Night at the Museum will give you the opportunity to visit the Herbert at night and see how our collections come alive through a series of workshops and activities.  You can experience poetry in the Herbert café, learn about conservation, play the Harp, or delve into the depths of the building with one of our curator guided store tours.

Visiting us for the event is Master John Stele of Jordan Well, boclemaker and wiredrawer from the 15th century who will set up shop in the History Gallery to talk about the casting and the metal working industry of yesteryear, you can even see and handle some of the 15th century objects that he's made.

Why not take a wander over to the undercroft to visit Sir Valentine Dial and to learn about armour from through the ages.  Find out how armour has changed over time and handle some of the items used to fight and defend England.

Taking place throughout the night will be store tours led by our Keepers of Collections, Spooky Storytelling for those of you brave enough to listen, activity make-and-take workshops, print making inspired by nature and live performance poetry.

Join us for a night of wonderment and creativity where imaginations can run riot and inspiration can be found under every rock, sword and belt buckle on show.

A Night at the Museum is kindly sponsored by Touch FM and Scene Central.
