We believe that learning is an active engagement with our audience / users, both formally and informally which enables people to gain knowledge and develop their potential. Our school services can play a huge role in helping children understand the environment around them and their relationship with the world.

As part of the regional group of museums and galleries called Renaissance West Midlands, Coventry Arts and Heritage offers a comprehensive package of schools workshops and modules. These sessions are delivered at The Herbert, the Priory Visitor Centre and the Lunt Roman Fort. Some sessions can also be accessed on site at your school as part of our outreach service.

The Herbert is currently in the final phase of a £20 million two stage redevelopment. From autumn 2008, stunning natural history galleries, visual art collections and local and social history exhibitions will be accessible within our spectacular redevelopment.

The finished building will include three dedicated education spaces, as well as state-of-the-art history, science, art, sculpture and performance galleries, a new History Centre documenting almost 800 years of Coventry’s past and a spectacular two-level covered court.

To enable this building work to take place, major parts of The Herbert need to be closed to the public. The Herbert will still be able offer a high quality educational service during 2007-08 by utilising our temporary exhibition programme and delivering workshops in our education space. We will also continue to provide our current outreach sessions in your school.

We look forward to welcoming you and your pupils to all of our sites this year.

To book a visit call 024 7629 4748. Messages can be left outside office hours and your call will be returned the following day.
