Lunt Roman Fort

Over the past year Coventry City Council has been carrying out a wide ranging review of the charges it makes for services in culture, leisure and libraries. Until now there has been no consistency in the way the Council charges for some of its services, so the review aimed to make sure that decisions about charging are planned, targeted and easy to understand.

The Lunt Fort admission fees have been increased following a council review of all fees and charges across culture and leisure services, the review identified that the previous fees at the Lunt did not reflect the quality of service now offered, nor have prices been increased by inflation for the last seven years. Adult admission is now £2.50 and for families the charge is £7.00. Throughout the year we put on special events and workshops including re-enactment group performances, Roman coin making, archaeological talks, and seasonal events such as 'Scary Sunday's'. These are all included as part of the general admission fee.

School groups receive dedicated staff guidance and specialised workshop sessions, and now also receive a free teaches pack as part of their groups admission fee and administration charges for invoicing have now been dropped. We still believe the Lunt Roman Fort offers an excellent educational service and good value for money for all visitors.

As a Council we have a strong commitment to making sure that we provide a wide range of excellent cultural services, and we know how much people value these services across the city. We have to try and recover as much of the cost of the service as possible, without making the charges too high for people to afford, and we also want to make sure that people in most need get the most support so they can continue enjoying our services. We believe this has been achieved as part of the review of our fees and charges.
