Looking for the Tallyman

Looking for the TallymanFollowing performances at the Edinburgh Festival 1999, and a National Tour including London at the Oval House November 1999, Looking for the Tallyman was performed at The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry to mark Triangle's new residency at the gallery.

An exploration into prickly family trees and the nature of patriarchy and nationhood. Through researching the personal family trees of the actors a journey was made into the experience of illegitimacy; of living in workhouses and children's homes in the 1930s and 40s; of the child's perception of World War 2, MI5 and the freemasons. This project was a personal history research project with mythological and universal resonance.

“At a time when so much theatre is bland and safe. Triangle’s 20th century fairy tale is a dense, rewardingly rich piece of visual theatre”
LYN GARDNER – The Guardian
