The Pollard Trail
professional training scheme for young people
SUMMER 2006
What is involved in the training?
This training project involves the film, performance and music techniques
we use in the making of The Pollard Trail. At Triangle we want participants
to experience our actual working process. You will be able to work with
like-minded young people, learning from and contributing towards a real
professional arts event.
Training in this way with Triangle gives participants experience of:
- Working with a professional company of artists
- Using a range of audio and film recording methods from
Super 8 film to digital technology.
- Creating and recording original music and sound for
performance.
- An award-winning and internationally acclaimed method
of ‘living history’ and museum performance.
- A unique approach to oral history.
Will it be useful in the future?
Participants will contribute towards a DVD Rom which they will be able
to use to demonstrate their participation in the project, and their own
creative ideas. Triangle can also give advice on applying for a Youth
Arts Award.
What is The Pollard Trail?
The Pollard Trail is inspired by clown memorabilia recently discovered
in The Herbert museum stores. Triangle has unearthed the true story of
a Coventry clown called Irving Pollard, or Chico, who lost his voice and
memory in the
Coventry Blitz. The trail reconstructs Chico’s memories and lifestory
by creating comical and clownesque interventions in everyday life. The
trail will be based in and around Hillfields. The company is inviting
a small number of
participants to collaborate with a new group of characters – hapless
historical re-enactors, created by Triangle’s artists.
How many training places are there?
A maximum of 10 free places are available for young people with an interest
in developing skills in music, performance, or film. How much does it
cost?
Triangle will cover all costs of professional training in preparation
for the trail.
