The Herbert Café

The Herbert Café is part of The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum. Acacia Catering operates the Café as a contract.

The café is an example of our approach to food: Fresh, seasonal produce cooked in creative ways by very enthusiastic chefs that enjoy food and take pride in their chosen profession.

Pop in for breakfast and start the morning with Blueberry pancakes & cream or hot waffles with bacon & maple syrup. The Egg Florentine, muffins, creamed spinach and poached eggs with hollandaise sauce is a firm favourite amongst those who enjoy reading the broadsheets and listening to the laid back classical and world music.

The menu changes daily, depending on the fresh produce we find on the market and from local suppliers.

We cook fresh soups daily, so one day you could have red lentil & vegetable soup or cream of mushroom the next day.

We are licensed to sell wine & beer. But mostly people are talking about our coffee. Herbert & Ward is a British Coffee Roaster that’s been in the business for 78 years. Your cappuccino, latte & espressos are rich in flavour and strength.

And don’t forget your loyalty cards! To reward our customers for their loyalty, we introduced 2 Herbert Café loyalty cards: One for coffee and one for lunch. When your card is full, we give you a free coffee or a free lunch. So don’t forget to ask for your loyalty cards.

We have a range of cakes and confectionery and a good selection of teas for the afternoon.

It’s a lovely café with a great atmosphere and remember, you can use your laptop in the café, we have wireless internet connection! Hope to see you soon.
