What's On

Summer Holidays Week 1: The High Seas

10.30am – 3.30pm

With a different craft activity every day we have something for everyone this summer!

Saturday 29 July: Salty Seascapes
Create sea inspired scenes through process art techniques, mixing collage with glue drawings, sprinkled salt and drops of colour. Watch as the colours blend together, just as science and art blend together with this activity.

Monday 31 July: I See the Sea!
Become the captain of your crew and make a telescope with a difference as you build up sea scene images on acetate sheets and place them inside the tube. These will be interchangeable giving you a different view every time you look through it.

Tuesday 1 August: Viking Longboats
Make your very own Viking longboat, inspired by our Fearsome Craftsmen exhibition, using a variety of craft materials.

Wednesday 2 August: Shiny Scaly Clay
Get yourself a Viking catch of the day and make a fish out of clay and add super shiny sequins to make those scales stand out.

Thursday 3 August: Secrets of the Sea Treasure Chests
Create a chest using a recycled egg box, paint and craft materials. The only thing left to decide is what treasures you will hide inside?

Friday 4 August: Brilliant Banners
You will become the leader of your people as you design your own banner to display with pride, using t-shirts, garden canes and fabric paint.

Saturday 5 August: Stormy Seas Blow Art
Make a stunning silhouette picture with a stormy sea themed background using liquid paints and straws.
