What's On

Rear View by IOU

‘If at 65 you could say something to yourself at 23, what would it be?'

Rear View is a unique interactive experience for all audiences where the streets of Coventry become part of the performance. This exciting experience is taken on a custom-made conversion of a double decker bus, a mobile auditorium which turns the City town into a stage, taking you on an unforgettable journey where familiar and not so familiar places are brought to life.

Beginning in a life-drawing class, Rear View becomes a moving adventure about a woman’s life, led by performance poets Cecilia Knapp and Jemima Foxtrot.

Rear View starts at Coventry Transport Museum

On board the Rear View bus, audiences wear positional sound headphones - a brand new product for theatrical usage currently being developed by IOU in partnership with University of York’s Digital Creativity Hub. The audience will experience audio in real time with an imaginary soundscape blurring the line between fantasy and reality.

'The new IOU theatre show is a little bit special, wonderfully poignant piece about seeing ourselves clearly from a distance' Lyn Gardner, The Guardian‘

IOU has a 40-year tradition of creating work that combines many art forms presented in unusual indoor and outdoor spaces, festivals, venues, galleries and digital worlds.

Proof of concessions will be required if you book a concessions ticket.

Recommended for ages 11+, duration approx 70mins. Dress appropriately as the bus is open to the elements.
