WANTED Project Officer: Exploring Eliot

We are extremely excited to announce that the application stage for the role of Project Officer has now opened as part of the Exploring Eliot project.

Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery is lead partner in Exploring Eliot a project which has been awarded £119,711 funding from the Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund. This post will work with the museum and its partners, Herbert Art Gallery & Museum and Nuneaton Library.

The Project Officer will work closely alongside existing staff at each partner organisation. They will recruit and lead teams of volunteers to research, document and digitise the collections, identifying objects with significant and relevant stories as well as highlighting connections between the collections.

The 18 month project, Exploring Eliot, is an exploration of George Eliot’s significance today, using internationally important collections to bring her story to a wider audience. The project will encourage people to examine the author’s radical life and the choices she made, allowing them to reflect on their own experiences.

In 2019 it will be 200 years since the birth of writer George Eliot, born Mary Ann Evans. Her formative years were spent in Nuneaton and Coventry, where her intellectual development took place. This anniversary and the lead up to City of Culture 2021 makes now the perfect time to share her story and further develop these collections.
