Changes to permanent displays ahead of British Art Show 10: A Chorus of Strangers

You may have noticed some changes to our permanent spaces over August. The Collections and Exhibitions teams have been busy getting ready for our exciting new temporary exhibition, British Art Show 10: A Chorus of Strangers - The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum.

Some familiar faces have been safely returned to storage for the duration of the show. These include George Eliot's piano, Peter Peri's The Coventry Sculpture, Yehudi Menuhin by David Wynne and Female Head by William Chattaway. But don't worry, these favourites will be back on display in February 2027 and in the meantime the countdown is on to the opening of British Art Show on 2 October 2026.
