Teachers come Face to Face with latest exhibition

A group of teachers from a range of Coventry & Warwickshire primary and secondary schools enjoyed a private, after-hours tour of the Face to Face exhibition. They also had the opportunity to sketch in the gallery as well. The group enjoyed the session and commented on insights they had gained from the tour:

"Being able to recognise the relationships between the artist and the model."

"How a gaze can change/show a sitter's emotions."

The participants particularly enjoyed learning facts about the portraits, the use of portraiture through the ages and were inspired by the enthusiasm of their tour guide. They also valued the additional benefits of the session:

"Networking, getting to sketch, feeling of stress-relief and wellbeing after a busy day."

"Feeling that we were important and facilitators love their job / know their field."

The event was part of a programme of Teachers' CPD (Continual Professional Development) events organised by the museum. Further events include a Media Workshop and Exploring Paintings Through Sketching.

The session was part of the Museums & Schools programme, funded by the DFE through Arts Council and supported by Arts Connect.
