Unleash your child’s imagination with a birthday full of creativity and colour! Take inspiration from the museum’s collections and experiment with different artistic techniques in our facilitated art workshops.

Your Arty Party includes:
Admission to the museum
Exclusive use of party rooms for 2 hours
A 90-minute facilitated art workshop
All materials for the workshop
Basic decorations including bunting and table covers
A Bluetooth speaker for music
Optional party bags and party food (additional cost, please see below)
10% off in our shop, valid for one month after your party.
Please note: families are welcome to bring their own decorations and food, but you will be responsible for set-up and tidy-up of any additional items you bring.
Party Themes:
Printing and Patterns – During this workshop, children will practice pattern making techniques through sketching activities, taking inspiration from the collections on display in the museum. Guided by our expert team, all party participants will then learn printing techniques using polyfoam tiles and experiment with different colour combinations using printing ink, ready to create artwork to take home with them.
Clay Creations – Children will first learn some basic clay techniques, including making a pinch pot and a coil pot. They will then practice scoring and smoothing skills, ready for making a final piece of their choice that encourages their own creative flare and brings together the techniques they have learnt on the day. All creations can be taken home on the day. Clay used is air-drying and will simply require being left on a windowsill to dry for 24 hours.
Gelli plate printing on tote bags – Using Gelli plates, magazines, and even their own favourite photos, children can experiment with layering, cutting, and arranging images to make their own unique designs and transfer them onto a tote bag. This workshop encourages creativity, self-expression, and a love of making art by experimenting and making mistakes.
Book bindings – Children will learn book binding techniques such as Saddle Stitch binding (suitable for older children) or Accordion binding (ideal for younger ones). They’ll enjoy combining different types of pages and exploring creative ways to decorate their covers, making each book unique. Whether it becomes a personalised sketchbook, journal, or a handmade gift for someone special, participants will take home a creation to treasure. This workshop encourages creativity, patience, and pride in crafting something both beautiful and practical.
We will provide all materials for the activities, along with basic decorations (bunting and table covers for the party food room). Families are welcome to bring their own additional decorations but are responsible for adding these and removing these at the end of the party.

FAQs
Is there parking available?
Yes! We offer one parking space in our museum car park for the party family. Please let us know on the booking form if you need it.
Can parents stay during the party?
Yes, although our workshop space has a capacity limit of 30 people. To ensure a comfortable environment for the children, we kindly encourage parents to relax in our café while the activities are taking place.
Can I buy coffee vouchers ahead of the party for adults?
Yes, drink vouchers are available at £3.50 each. If you’d like to purchase any, please contact us in advance. You're welcome to enjoy your drinks in the designated party room, but we kindly ask that no drinks are taken into the display areas.
