Housing approximately 320,000 objects, the Herbert’s collection is one of Coventry’s most important cultural assets and a priceless resource for engagement, learning and creativity.

We hold objects excavated from sites in and around Coventry, dating from the Bronze Age to the post-medieval period.

Social and Industrial History

The Herbert's Social and Industrial History collection charts the history and development of Coventry and the lives and experiences of its people, past and present. It covers all aspects of life in Coventry.

Visual Arts

Our fine visual arts collection includes paintings, drawings and sculptures as well as contemporary digital works.

Coventry History Centre is the place to research local and family history, using large collections of historical material, including the City's Archives.

Natural History

Our natural history collection of around 180,000 specimens covers most aspects of the natural world.
