A Conversation with Shaheen Merali: Discussing the Freedom Hunters by Gavin Jantjes
An open conversation, convened by Coventry University PhD student, Shaheen Merali, discussing Gavin Jantjes silk print of 'Freedom Hunters'.
The conversation will be a discussion in the presence of the silkscreen print by Gavin Jantjes entitled Freedom Hunters, 1983, a key work against apartheid in Cape Town, South Africa.
The conversation is to further establish from the histories of exclusion, the formation of modern civic consciousness, concerning the insights into race, art, the archive, and contemporary societies.
The first event will be an informal discussion, collectively directed and aimed at triggering awareness from partial memories including those of a seminal artwork by Gavin Jantjes.
