Nature's Journey: From Dinosaurs to Birds | Children's Crafts

Join us this February half-term for nature-inspired creative activities.

All materials provided. Suitable for ages 3+ with adult supervision

Discover how dinosaurs evolved into birds, explore the wildlife thriving in our British climate, and learn about sustainability through hands-on making. Create beautiful upcycled glass lanterns and recycled cardboard bird sculptures while uncovering the extraordinary story of our planet.

Drawing inspiration from our collections, including British bird taxidermy as still-life subjects, these drop-in activities celebrate millions of years of natural history. Perfect for curious minds who love nature, art, and our environment! 

Daily Activities:  

Glass Upcycling – Tuesday 17 & Wednesday 18 February  
Transform discarded glass jars into beautiful lanterns, planters, and storage containers using tissue paper, sequins, and embellishments like jute and feathers. Design your own nature-inspired motifs celebrating our planet Earth, British birds and prehistoric creatures. A perfect way to create something beautiful from old jars.

Recycled Cardboard Bird Sculptures – Thursday 19 & Friday 20 February
Create stunning bird sculptures using recycled cardboard, paints, and decorative materials, including feathers, sequins, and pom-poms. Then secure your creation onto a wooden block using a clothespin to complete your beautiful cardboard bird sculpture. Learn about bird evolution from their dinosaur ancestors while crafting your own feathered friend.
