For ages 8-16
Discover the art of traditional oil painting in this hands-on masterclass! Children will develop their sketching skills and observational techniques by drawing from beautiful British bird taxidermy specimens - a unique opportunity to study feathers, forms, and natural details up close.
After mastering basic sketching techniques, participants will learn essential oil painting methods through guided practice activities. Working with professional-quality materials, each child will create their own stunning oil painting on canvas board, capturing the intricate beauty of British birds to take home as a lasting masterpiece.
This masterclass combines art education with natural history, offering young artists the chance to engage with traditional painting techniques while exploring our native bird species in detail.
Grown-ups are not required to stay but are welcome to do so. Museum entry fees for accompanying adult are included in the art masterclass ticket price. Museum entrance fee is waived for the accompanying adult.
