Rediscover the sights, sounds, and stories of childhood across the decades. This nostalgic, hands-on event is designed for adults, families, and anyone who enjoys history and shared experiences. 

Explore fascinating objects, join an immersive guided tour, listen to music from the 1940s through to the 1980s, and reconnect with games, toys, and stories that shaped generations. Whether you’re reliving your own memories or learning something new, there’s something here for everyone.



What's On:

Guided Tours Times: 11.30am & 2.30pm
Join our experienced tour guide, dressed in period costume, for a relaxed journey through time. Learn how childhood has changed from the Victorian era, through WWII, and up to the present day. 

Board & Card Games:
Rediscover classic board and card games that many adults grew up with. Enjoy a break from screens, share a laugh, and introduce these favorites to a new generation. Perfect for adults who enjoy nostalgia as well as younger visitors experiencing these games for the first time. 

Object Handling Sessions:
Meet our costumed object handler and explore a trolley full of intriguing objects. See, touch, and hear the stories behind toys and everyday items from the past. A relaxed, conversational experience that sparks memories and curiosity.

Displays & Activities:

  • Childhood Stories from the Archives – Offers real stories of childhoods gone by.
  • Dressing Up Corner - Try on costumes from different periods and take a selfie to remember your visit.
  • Sketch activity (self-led)- A creative time to try your hand at sketching your favorite piece of artwork.

Undercroft Tours:
Short, guided tours of the undercroft available throughout the day.
