Curated by the acclaimed writer and curator Ekow Eshun, this landmark exhibition provides a timely overview of the most exciting art produced in the UK over the past five years. Featuring more than 30 artists, it explores how we relate to one another and our planet during a time of profound social, cultural, and environmental change.
Titled A Chorus of Strangers, British Art Show 10 is presented across Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry University, and the Mead Gallery. Through an ambitious mix of painting, sculpture, photography, film, and installation, the featured artists explore themes of identity, belonging, memory, and community and our relationship with the natural world.
Thought-provoking and visually ambitious, A Chorus of Strangers offers a powerful view of the world today and the vital role art can play in navigating uncertainty, difference and connection.
Artists featured at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum are Okiki Akinfe, Alex Margo Arden, Alvaro Barrington, Shiraz Bayjoo, Lubna Chowdhary, Jesse Darling, Joy Gerrard, Mahtab Hussain, Hannah Quinlan & Rosie Hastings, Julianknxx, Lindsey Mendick, Emma McNally, Jack O’Brien, Lydia Ourahmane and Osman Yousefzada.
British Art Show 10: A Chorus of Strangers tours to Swansea (12 February – 16 May 2027), Bristol (19 June – 19 September 2027), Sheffield (23 October 2027 – 20 February 2028) and Newcastle Gateshead (24 March – 18 June 2028).
A Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition organised in collaboration with galleries across the cities of Coventry, Swansea, Bristol, Sheffield and Newcastle.
