What's On

Lunt Roman Festival

Join us for the Lunt’s biggest event of the year – the Roman Festival is back!

Location: Lunt Roman Fort

Watch Britannia – as seen on BBC’s ‘Horrible Histories’, ‘Blackadder Back and Forth’ and the Sky Atlantic series ‘Britannia’  - battle to the death in the Gyrus as they bring their renowned Gladiator display back to the Lunt!

Take a stroll through our Living History village and meet The Vicus, who will give you an insight into the sights and sounds of 1st century life, through a range of displays including craft making, cooking, traditional games and military equipment & training.

Learn about weaving and textiles with the Coventry Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, who will be holding an interactive weaving demonstration on Sunday.

Try your hand at being a Roman soldier in our interactive Battle Drill! Our experienced guides will safely lead younger recruits through a fun and exciting training session, during which they’ll be kitted out with uniform, sword and shield, and learn the basics of soldierly life – how to march, how to fight, and the best sort of insult to use against the Celts!

Get into the festival spirit by making and decorating your own Festival Mask in our craft activity – the wilder and more colourful the better!

The Coventry and District Archaeological Society will be on site to talk about finds from their latest project at the Broomfield Tavern.

Test your aim with Activity Club Coventry who will be bringing their interactive archery stand to the fort on Sunday.
