Treasured Tale Talk - Draper Hall: A Building through Time

Join Paramjit Sehmi from Coventry Archives as we explore the history of this key Coventry site. This talk will look at why Draper’s Hall was built and its relevance to the important textiles trade in the city of Coventry.

On 8th November 1832 Draper's Hall as we know it today was opened with a celebratory ball. However, the original version was built in 1637 and it has changed a lot from its original design.

Join us in the Coventry Archives as we explore the history of this key Coventry site. This talk will look at why Draper’s Hall was built and its relevance to the important textiles trade in the city of Coventry. It will also track the various architectural changes of the building with reference to historical accounts, architectural designs and plans. Moreover, Draper’s Hall will be appreciated as a significant site which served the public for both social gatherings and during wartime.
