There is tons of creative fun for little hands and feet in this relaxed and engaging art session. Babies and toddlers will have the opportunity to explore various materials across the sessions including paint, glitter, paste, sand, clay, slimy spaghetti, chalk and much more. Messy play is an important element of early childhood development, appealing to children’s curiosity and helping them to understand the world through their senses. These sessions will also expose them to early mark making, enabling them to develop good concentration, muscle control and encourage their imaginations. Be prepared to get messy for both children and adults!

Upcoming themes:

9 June – The Great Outdoors – With the weather getting warmer outside, this month we will be enjoying nature inspired messy play. Stomping through the paint to make wild beast footprints, pressing real flowers to craft suncatchers, leaf printing and diving into sensory-filled tuft trays.

7 July – Celebrate Summer – One of our favourite themes of the year! Delve into our sandpits, sculpt pom-pom paper ice-creams, bring to life sunny scenes with hand printing and so much more with this colourful Mini Makers session.

8 September – Arrival of Autumn – Autumn has arrived and with it a burst of gold, red and yellow swirling and twirling all around. This month we will be making bird feeders, leaf printing trees and hedgehogs, and diving into woodland inspired sensory play trays.

6 October – Magic and Mischief – This October join the fairies and goblins for an adventure. Explore our sensory trays of magical potions and sparkle dust, practice mark making to bring fairy creatures to life, make a mottled moon from tin foil printing and get messy with jelly (gelatine free).

3 November – Lest We Forget – For Remembrance Day, we are making poppies using cupcake cases and handprints, creating shiny gold and silver painted medals, and filling our trays with red rice, mud, and shredded paper.

8 December – Let it snow – An invitation to join us for some very, messy festive fun, dive into trays filled with cinnamon scented cloud dough and fluffy snow. Make sooty footprints as you walk in the footsteps of Santa, create handprint painted Festive cards and unique and colourful wrapping paper.

5 January – Pre-Historic Hunters – Time travel back to the land of dinosaurs. Stomp through paint to make dinosaur footprints, add to our caveman art wall with handprints, craft a fiery volcano and delve into trays full of mud, clay, and mess!

It is advisable that you and your child wear items of clothing that you are happy to risk getting paint on. Whilst the paint is water based it may stain if not washed out quickly. Many of our regular visitors have a dedicated 'messy' outfit for the purposes of enjoying this session to its fullest extent, with a spare outfit to change into afterwards.
