Cecily Brown

Alongside the display of work by Edgar Degas on loan from the Courtauld Gallery, the Herbert is showing ‘Be Nice to the Big Blue Sea’ by Cecily Brown. This striking painting is based on Degas’ painting, ‘Young Spartans Exercising’, from 1860. It is on loan to the Herbert from a private collector.
