May Half-term Crafts: Scenic Seascapes

Explore watercolours, collaging and junk modelling in our sea-inspired half-term craft activities

A seascape comprised of shells and pebbles scattered across blue and white netting

Drop-in | £2.50 per child, under 3s go free

Aimed at ages 3+, but all are welcome

Inspired by the stories behind two seascape paintings in our permanent art collection, our half-term craft activities are themed around the sea. As well as experimenting with watercolour, wax resist techniques and junk modelling, we'll be making use of natural seaside materials including salt, shells and seaweed. Find out more about the activities taking place each day below!

Under the Sea Glass Jars - Sat 27, Mon 29 & Tue 30 May

Dive under the deep blue sea with this imaginative craft activity, using a range of natural materials to create your own underwater world inside a glass mason jar.

Eco-conscious Carton Rafts - Wed 31 May & Thu 1 Jun

Upcycle egg boxes and other junk materials to create your own carton rafts in this eco-conscious craft activity. We'll also be sharing ideas for you to carry on the creativity at home by making a tropical landscape in your garden to use your raft in.

Seascape Collages - Fri 2 & Sat 3 June

Take inspiration from seafaring adventures and visits to the beach to create your own seascape collage. We'll show you how to build up beautiful layers of contrasting colours, add lighthouse silhouettes and fold 3D origami boats that will sail right off the page.
