What's On

Summer Holidays Week 2: Homeward Bound

10.30am – 3.30pm

With a different craft activity every day we have something for everyone this summer!

Monday 7 August: Floating Home Flotilla
Join artist Jim Morris to construct rainbow themed boats that will drift through our Glass Covered Court, creating a big and bright collaborative display for all of our visitors to enjoy. Children can make two boats, one to keep and one to leave at the museum.

Tuesday 8 August: Viking Poo!
Yes, you read that correctly! In this activity children will learn about Viking diets as they make their own fossilised Viking poo. Please note, no actual poo will be used in this messy and fun activity!

Wednesday 9 August: Beautiful Baskets
Learn how to weave your own colourful basket using paper cups, lollipop sticks and wool. Perfect for storing pens and small items in at home.

Thursday 10 August: Fearsome Fires
Get playful and make a pretend campfire to add the illusion of warmth and light to your bedroom.

Friday 11 August: Fabulous Fish
Get creative and make a colourful fish-shaped sun catcher to hang by your window, using bottles and tissue paper.

Saturday 12 August: Brilliant Beards
Beards are back in fashion, but it was the Vikings who started the trend. Fashion your own beard using wool and fabric and then parade yourself through our Fearsome Craftsmen exhibition to feel at home with your new look.
