Artists who are a member of one of the main Coventry art societies are invited to submit up to four paintings plus sculpture and pottery for the exhibition. The choice of subject matter and style is as individual as the artists themselves and most work is for sale and reasonably priced. There will be wild animals, local scenes, landscapes, flowers, a vintage car and steam train, portraits, including those of the Lord Mayor, who agreed to model for the Earlsdon Portrait Group, clothed of course, in his mayor’s attire.
It is the artists themselves, one from each society, who judge and select which works go on show. The art societies taking part are the Coventry and Warwickshire Society of Artists, The Coventry Art Guild, Coventry Watercolour Society and the Baginton Art Group. They encourage and nurture local artists and welcome new members whether they be experienced or just starting out.
Visitors to the exhibition have an opportunity to select their favourite painting or sculpture and the artist with the most votes will win an award. Other prizes are awarded by the Lord Mayor, Cllr John Blundell; the Chairman, Susan Moore; and the Selection Panel.
