The Ancient Egyptian Way of Death with Tutor Chris Kirby

In this two day course, we will examine the rituals and practices adopted by the ancient Egyptians to ensure safe passage of the deceased to the afterlife.

Richly illustrated with examples of actual objects, we will follow the journey of the deceased from mummification to burial and investigate the rich mythology and practices which occurred through each stage leading to the closing of the tomb.

The second session will be a visit to Manchester Museum to explore the rich collection of mummy-related material on display (please note the cost of travel is not included in the course price).
