Art Masterclass: Zine Making with Last Mafuba
Join Last Mafuba for a zine-making workshop, giving voice to story-telling and identity.

Designed for age 11 - 16
Join Last Mafuba for a zine-making workshop, giving voice to story-telling and identity. Using the statement ‘TELL ME MORE’ as a starting point, participants will develop an inclusive vocabulary informed by collections at the Herbert. This will feed into them making of individual zine and pamphlet-style publication using paper and print ephemera, photo printing, photocopying, and printmaking techniques.
As part of this 3-hour workshop, all participating children will receive lunch, served from our museum café, Alfreds. Please let any food allergies be known at the time of booking. Parents are not required to stay for the duration of this workshop, but are welcome to, should they wish to.
Last Mafuba is the founder and CEO of Inini Initiative, a social enterprise that promotes community cohesion by supporting asylum seekers, refugees and migrants understand and navigate their new social terrain. She is also a practicing artist and recently displayed and co-curated the Umoja exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum with the theme of 'healing'.
We have HAF spaces available at this Art Masterclass workshop. HAF is the Holiday and Activities Food Programme from Coventry City Council, funded by the Department for Education. If your child receives free school meals and lives in Coventry, they should be eligible. For further information and to book any of the above activities, free of charge and with a pre-packed lunch provided for your child too, please visit: www.coventry.gov.uk/HAF
Did you know we can support your child to achieve their Arts Award Discover if they are aged 5-11? Taking part in our school holiday activities and visiting our exhibitions helps them to do the majority of the work needed to complete their award. Find out more about the Arts Award from Home programme.
